Known in India as Kala Kapas, Kala cotton is one of the country's indigenous cottons, deeply connected to the textile traditions of Kutch.

NATURAL DYES
Colour, drawn from nature.
Our cotton yarn is naturally dyed by hand using extracts from flowers, leaves and bark. The ingredients are hand-pounded using traditional methods to extract their colour.

Choose a dye - the stone, the yarn, all take its colour.
HAND-POUNDED ON TRADITIONAL STONE
The colour is not added. It is drawn out.
Flowers, leaves and bark are pounded by hand until they give up their pigment. The yarn goes into the vessel undyed and comes out carrying a little of the plant with it.
Press the stone and watch the yarn take colour. It will not be uniform. That is how you know it is real.
Every colour carries a little of its source with it.
